Freo is throwing its first ever Fashion Festival, and FOMO will be right at the heart of it. On Saturday 17 October, we’re hosting a special edition of Pre Loved Market as part of the city-wide celebration of Western Australian sustainable fashion, plus a full day of upcycling workshops at Slow Fashion Hub.

Pre Loved Market x FOMO

Head down to FOMO Freo for a massive celebration of sustainable style, featuring over 100 conscious fashion sellers, local DJs and delicious street food. Shop curated racks of high-quality preloved fashion, one-of-a-kind vintage treasures, active streetwear and hidden designer gems.

Entry is completely free, all welcome.

Flipping Fun workshops at Slow Fashion Hub

Get hands-on with a day of beginner-friendly upcycling sessions at Slow Fashion Hub, showing just how far a few simple mending and crafting skills can go in extending the life of your clothes. Each session runs for an hour, and you’re welcome to book just one or stay for the whole day.

• 10am — T-shirt to tote bag (bring your own old tee if you’d like to repurpose it)
• 11am — T-shirt yarn
• 12pm — Macramé key rings and dog chew toys
• 1pm — Blanket stitch creations
• 2pm — Scrunchie making (final session, concludes 3pm)

All materials are provided, no experience necessary, and younger kids are welcome with an adult alongside them.

What to expect for the rest of the fest

Pre Loved Market x FOMO and Slow Fashion Hub workshops are just part of the action. The F.RE.O Fashion Festival will be taking over Walyalup Koort and the Fremantle Town Hall for the day, bringing together local independent designers, makers, upcyclers and preloved fashion curators from across the city.

Catch various runway showcases throughout the day, including:

• The Re:Imagine Runway at 11am in Walyalup Koort
• The Re:Volutionise Runway at 2pm, spotlighting the next generation of ethical design in WA.

There’s also a full program of hands-on upcycling workshops, industry panel talks, and a community clothes swap in celebration of World Op Shop Day. The outdoor festival, market, runway shows and panel talks are all free to attend, while workshops and the clothes swap are ticketed with limited capacity, so it’s worth registering ahead if you want a spot.
